Plaza Midwood's nightlife is the neighborhood's reputation and, for residents on the corridor blocks, its main trade-off. Both facts deserve a straight description.
The corridor runs the full span: unreconstructed dive bars that predate the neighborhood's revival, serious cocktail rooms, brewery taprooms with patios, and small live-music venues. What it does not have much of is anything corporate, which is precisely why people travel across Charlotte to drink here.
Within two blocks of Central Avenue, expect noise on Friday and Saturday nights, competition for street parking, and occasional overflow onto residential blocks. Four blocks out, most of that disappears. Buyers should visit a prospective house at 11 p.m. on a Saturday before deciding — the daytime version of these streets is not the whole story.
