Central Avenue is the reason a lot of people move here and the reason a few move away. It is one of the densest independent dining corridors in Charlotte, and almost none of it is a chain.
Roughly speaking: chef-driven rooms and cocktail bars cluster near the Central and Thomas intersection, taquerias and long-running family restaurants spread east along Central, breweries and music venues sit at the edges, and coffee anchors the morning at both ends. Almost everything is walkable from almost everywhere in the historic core.
